PRIORITIES

A Voice for Kansas Values.

Sharice is a voice for Kansas values, working to ensure everyone has equal opportunities to succeed.

My Values

Agriculture is the backbone of Kansas’ economy, and I’m committed to ensuring that farmers, ranchers, and producers have the tools they need to succeed for generations to come. When Kansas’ Third District became more rural, I immediately asked to be appointed to the U.S. House Agriculture Committee to bring Kansas’ voices to Washington.

From promoting reliable crop insurance to advancing agricultural research and expanding access to nutritious food, we must build a strong foundation for Kansas’ agricultural future. I currently serve as the Ranking Member on the U.S House Agriculture General Farm Commodities, Risk Management, and Credit Subcommittee.

My Actions

  • Conducted a Farm Bill listening tour across every county in Kansas’ Third District to hear directly from farmers, ranchers, and agricultural experts.
  • Worked with both parties to advance the Farm Bill reauthorization, prioritizing Kansas’ needs.
  • Introduced the Resilient Food Supply Chain and Affordability Act to strengthen local and regional food systems and lower grocery costs.
  • Received the Kansas Farm Bureau endorsement in 2024 and named a Friend of the Kansas Farm Bureau in 2022.

My Values

Education and workforce development are the foundations of a strong economy and a brighter future. As a proud graduate of Kansas public schools and the first in my family to graduate from college, I’m deeply committed to making education more accessible and affordable—whether it’s early childhood programs or higher education. At the same time, I recognize that traditional college pathways aren’t for everyone. That’s why I’m focused on equipping our workforce for the jobs of tomorrow through apprenticeships, technical training, and STEM programs. Everyone who works hard and plays by the rules deserves the opportunity to earn a good living and build a secure future.

My Actions

  • Helped pass the CHIPS and Science Act, ensuring new construction projects are using American-made products and boosting apprenticeships and STEM education.
  • Worked across the aisle to bring Panasonic’s electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility to De Soto, creating over 4,000 permanent, good-paying jobs.
  • Voted to raise the federal minimum wage and strengthen worker pensions.
  • Secured millions in federal grants for early childhood education programs like Head Start in the Third District.
  • Supported legislation to eliminate hidden fees that drive up the cost of student loans and worked to improve the public service loan forgiveness program for teachers, firefighters, and public servants.

My Values

I believe we can tackle climate change while unlocking the economic opportunities of clean energy. Kansas has incredible potential in wind and renewable energy, and by investing in sustainable technologies, we can protect our planet for future generations and create good-paying jobs in the process. Addressing this challenge requires collaboration on all fronts — bringing together businesses, communities, and innovators to lead the way in clean energy solutions. By working together, we can build a sustainable future that strengthens our economy and safeguards our environment.

My Actions

  • Voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, the largest ever federal investment in climate action. It created more than 20,000 clean energy jobs in Kansas’ Third District — more than any other district nationwide.
  • Helped craft the bipartisan infrastructure law and its investments in electric vehicle infrastructure, clean public transportation, and home weatherization programs to lower energy costs.
  • Voted for the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act and Protecting America’s Public Lands Act, both of which work to protect and sustain our public lands for future generations.
  • Worked to increase the production of ethanol-based fuel, which lowers emissions by providing a cleaner alternative to traditional fuel sources. It also reduces reliance on foreign oil and supports Kansas farmers.

My Values

Democracy works best when every voice is heard, and that means protecting the right to vote and ensuring our government serves the people — not special interests. I’m dedicated to reducing the influence of big money in politics, strengthening ethics laws, and making sure our elections are free, fair, and accessible to all. As we face efforts to restrict access to the ballot box, I’ll continue fighting to ensure every Kansan can make their voice heard and trust in our democratic system.

My Actions

  • Voted for the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to protect access to the ballot box, end the dominance of big money in politics, and strengthen ethics laws for elected officials.
  • Supported bipartisan legislation to prevent insider trading by Members of Congress and increase government accountability.
  • Voted against pay raises for Members of Congress, while working to lower costs for Kansas families.
  • Introduced the bipartisan Native American Voting Rights Act to address barriers to voting in Tribal communities.
  • Co-sponsored the For the People Act to combat corruption and strengthen voting rights.

My Values

No family should endure the heartbreak of gun violence, whether it’s in schools, neighborhoods, or even at celebrations like the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City. Tragedies like these remind us of the urgent need for common-sense, bipartisan gun safety measures that keep our kids and communities safe while respecting responsible gun ownership. I’m committed to ensuring local law enforcement have the resources and training necessary to reduce gun violence and protect lives, so every family can feel secure in their community.

My Actions

  • Voted for the bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun violence prevention legislation in 30 years. It ensures guns don’t get into the hands of individuals who are ineligible to possess them and expands supportive services in schools.
  • Helped secure more than $27 million in federal public safety grants to hire more local police officers, prevent crime, and get criminals off our streets.
  • Supported universal background checks and red flag laws to keep firearms out of dangerous hands.
  • Advocated for increased access to mental health services as part of gun violence prevention efforts.
  • Secured federal investment to upgrade Olathe’s mobile police command unit with new technology so folks can get immediate onsite assistance.

My Values

Health care is a right, not a privilege, and every Kansan deserves access to affordable, high-quality care. That means protecting and strengthening the Affordable Care Act, expanding Medicaid, and lowering the cost of prescription drugs so families don’t have to choose between their health and financial stability. I’m dedicated to closing gaps in coverage and ensuring that rural and underserved communities have access to the care they need. Mental health must also be treated as a priority, fully integrated into our health care system and destigmatized. By focusing on affordability and accessibility, we can build a system that puts people first and ensures every Kansan has the opportunity to live a healthy life.

My Actions

  • Voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, which included major provisions to save Kansans thousands of dollars and make life-saving prescriptions more accessible.
    • Caps insulin costs at $35/month for seniors. This saves 4,300 insulin users in Kansas’ Third District an average of $620 annually.
    • Allows Medicare to negotiate for cheaper prescription drugs, saving 74,000 Kansans up to 79 percent on their medicines.
    • Lowers health insurance premiums for 44,000 residents in Kansas’ Third District by an average of $780 a year.
    • Caps Medicare beneficiaries’ out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 per year.
  • Supported expanding Medicaid to provide health insurance for 165,000 Kansans and bringing up to $450 million in available federal dollars back to our state.
  • Introduced the Empowering Parents’ Health Care Choices Act to protect families from surprise medical bills.
  • Announced federal funding for mental health programs and authored bipartisan legislation to expand mental health care access for Kansans, including LGBTQI+ youth and student athletes.

My Values

Infrastructure touches every aspect of our daily lives — especially in the Kansas City metro area, which is home to several major transportation and shipping hubs. Whether it’s the roads we drive on, the bridges we cross, or the water we drink, these investments directly impact our quality of life. As a member of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I believe in modernizing outdated infrastructure to support growth, improve safety, and enhance accessibility for all Kansans. Infrastructure investments also create good-paying jobs and lay the groundwork for future economic development. This is all why I voted for the bipartisan infrastructure law, which the U.S. Chamber of Commerce called it the most fiscally responsible infrastructure bill in at least a decade.

My Actions

  • Voted for the bipartisan infrastructure law, bringing over $3.3 billion in federal funding to Kansas for more than 370 road, highway, bridge, transit, and water projects.
  • Advocated for and helped secure funding for the modernization of U.S. Highway 69, the most congested and most dangerous four-lane road in the state of Kansas, and other critical projects in the Third District.
  • Secured federal investments to replace the 54,000 lead pipes in Kansas and improve clean water systems across the state.
  • Brought home federal dollars to improve multiple airports throughout Kansas’ Third District, strengthening supply chains and supporting federal workers.

My Values

Growing up with a single mom, I understand how hard families work to make ends meet. That’s why I’m focused on lowering costs for everyday essentials, creating good-paying jobs, and ensuring fiscal responsibility in government spending. I believe we need to keep a close eye on our country’s debt, cut wasteful spending wherever possible, and hold billion-dollar corporations and the top 1 percent accountable by closing tax loopholes. Fiscal responsibility and fairness must go hand in hand as we build an economy that works for everyone.

My Actions

  • Voted for the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act to boost U.S. manufacturing, reduce dependence on foreign nations, and create good-paying jobs.
  • Helped pass the bipartisan infrastructure law, jumpstarting more than 370 individual projects in KS-03 to invest in roads, transit, and internet access – all spurring job creation.
  • Introduced legislation to lower gas prices and voted to stop price gouging by big oil companies.
  • Supported legislation to cap insulin costs at $35/month for seniors and reduce utility bills for homeowners.
  • Stood up to senior Democrats by backing “Pay-As-You-Go” budget rules to ensure fiscal responsibility and sponsoring bipartisan legislation to eliminate wasteful government programs.
  • Voted to pass a law that lowers the national debt by $300 billion, helping put our country on a path to greater fiscal responsibility.
  • Secured $41 million in savings for Kansas taxpayers through a change in interest calculation on two of Kansas’ federal water storage contracts.

My Values

A secure and humane immigration system, paired with strong national security and principled foreign policy, is vital to our nation’s success. I’m committed to ensuring America remains safe by standing up to authoritarian regimes, supporting our allies, and maintaining global stability. On immigration, we need comprehensive reform that secures our borders, provides pathways to citizenship for Dreamers, and treats those seeking a better life with dignity and fairness. Balancing security, humanity, and diplomacy is essential to building a safer, stronger future.

My Actions

  • Helped increase detection resources at our borders and ports and support border agents in their efforts to seize fentanyl.
  • Supported a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, who came to the U.S. as children and have known no other home.
  • Voted to reaffirm Israel’s right to exist and support humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
  • Called on President Biden and Speaker Johnson to collaborate on comprehensive immigration reform, including pathways to citizenship for Dreamers and increased border security resources.

My Values

Every Kansan deserves the freedom to make their own health care decisions without interference from politicians. I believe in protecting access to reproductive health care, including the right to safe and legal abortion. We must trust individuals and their doctors to make these deeply personal choices and ensure that every person has access to the care they need, no matter where they live or how much they earn.

My Actions

  • Voted for the Women’s Health Protection Act, which protects abortion rights and access to reproductive health care at the federal level.
  • Offered the official motion to prevent a vote on extreme legislation that sought to ban abortion nationwide or criminalize those who seek or provide care.
  • Introduced the Expanding Access to Family Planning Act, which expands access to contraception and family planning services to reduce unintended pregnancies.
  • Advocated for federal funding to ensure reproductive health clinics remain open, especially in underserved areas.
  • Joined 240 Members of Congress to file an amicus brief to keep mifepristone, a safe and effective medication used by millions of women, on the market.

My Values

Entrepreneurship is the backbone of Kansas’ Third District, and small businesses are at the heart of our local economy. As a previous member of the U.S. House Small Business Committee, I have worked to empower small business owners by cutting red tape, increasing access to affordable capital, and fostering innovation. A strong local economy also relies on supporting workers and maintaining a healthy workforce, which is why I’m committed to policies that promote fair wages, workplace safety, and workforce development. All entrepreneurs should be able to take care of their employees, grow their companies, and contribute to our local economy.

My Actions

  • Introduced legislation to make it easier to own a small business, with a focus on supporting minority owners, particularly women, veterans, and Native Americans.
  • Pushed for increased transparency and oversight in Small Business Administration processes to protect Kansans’ businesses and bank accounts.
  • Introduced measures to provide employers with greater flexibility in hiring and retaining employees, while helping workers with disabilities build financial security.
  • Led the bipartisan Promoting Women in Trucking Workforce Act to help women truck drivers run their own operation. This passed as part of the bipartisan infrastructure law.

My Values

My moms served in the Army for 20 years, so I have a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by our servicemembers and their families. I’m committed to ensuring that veterans receive the benefits, health care, and support they’ve earned. This includes addressing the unique challenges they face when transitioning to civilian life, such as finding employment, starting a business, or accessing mental health care. Our veterans have served this country with honor, and it is our duty to serve them in return by ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed in every aspect of their lives.

My Actions

  • Voted for the Honoring our PACT Act, which expands health coverage to 3.5 million former service members exposed to toxic burn pits while serving overseas.
  • Supported the GUARD VA Benefits Act to protect veterans from predatory practices and outrageous fees.
  • Introduced the SERV Act to help veterans start and operate a small business.
  • Supported legislation that enhances VA benefits for veterans with combat injuries and spouses and children who lost a family member in combat.
