TOPEKA, KS — Today, Representative Sharice Davids (KS-03) filed for reelection to serve Kansas’ Third Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. With a proven track record of putting Kansans’ priorities over those of special interests, Davids is committed to building on her work to make life more affordable for Kansas families.
“I hear from Kansans all the time who feel like they are doing everything right and still getting hit from every direction because the system is tilted toward special interests that know how to bend the rules,” said Davids. “People want leaders who listen, tell the truth, and actually fix issues instead of making them worse. So, as I run for reelection, my focus remains on working with both parties to lower costs and ensure Washington delivers for hardworking Kansans — not billionaires or powerful corporations.”

During her tenure in office, Davids has worked across party lines to advance commonsense solutions to lower costs on everyday essentials like prescription drugs, gas, and groceries; support Kansas small businesses; combat the fentanyl crisis; support veterans; rebuild crumbling infrastructure; and strengthen Kansas’ agricultural economy. She believes more work is needed to ensure Kansas families can not just get by, but get ahead.
That’s why Davids’ reelection campaign will center on rejecting extremism and advancing practical, bipartisan solutions for Kansans across the Third District, from Kansas City to Garnett. Specifically, she will work to:
- lower everyday costs and support good-paying jobs,
- protect access to healthcare and reproductive freedom, and
- push back against special interests and extreme politics in Washington that are driving up costs and making life harder for Kansas families.
That focus on affordability comes as households continue to feel the impact of rising costs tied to reckless policy decisions in Washington that only favor billionaires. The average family is paying more than $2,500 extra this year due to tariffs and is expected to spend about $740 more on gas. In the past year, residential electricity prices have risen by 13 percent nationally, and families have paid more than $300 more for groceries.
Davids, who was raised by a single mother, understands what it means to struggle to make ends meet. A graduate of Leavenworth High School and the first in her family to attend college, she worked her way through Johnson County Community College and later Cornell Law School. Before Congress, she worked in economic and community development on Native American reservations and served as a White House Fellow at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Elected in 2018, Davids is one of the first two Native American women to serve in Congress.
