Ad Highlights Davids’ Work to Fight the Fentanyl Crisis in Kansas
Today, Sharice for Congress launched its latest TV ad of 2024, “Crisis,” showcasing Representative Sharice Davids’ efforts to fight the fentanyl crisis in Kansas and support law enforcement. Davids, a member of the bipartisan Fentanyl Prevention Caucus in Congress, has hosted multiple summits with law enforcement, health care workers, and education professionals on combating the fentanyl epidemic and has taken a number of legislative actions based on the specific needs of Kansas’ Third District.
“I hear it from school administrators and on police ride-alongs: Kansas has a fentanyl crisis. That’s why I voted for more border patrol agents and new drug screening technology to secure the border and take on cartels. And got more resources for Kansas law enforcement,” said Davids. “I’ll keep fighting fentanyl to keep Kansans safe.”
Davids has been a vocal advocate around fentanyl and opioid death prevention. She:
Joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers to request funding for new handheld mass spectrometry trace level chemical detection devices at domestic ports.
Pushed for expanded federal grant opportunities, so law enforcement and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) can easily acquire life-saving Naloxone kits.
Voted to permanently place all fentanyl-related substances into a Schedule I class, labeling the drug with a high potential for abuse.
Shadowed a Kansas Highway Patrol officer on their patrol route seizing illegal drugs like fentanyl.
Secured $15.9 million for the Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program to help seize illicit drugs like fentanyl.
Helped pass a bill that creates a public awareness campaign about synthetic opioids through the Department of Health and Human Services.
Visited the Port of Long Beach to see how the port uses state-of-the-art technologies to prevent harmful substances — like fentanyl — from entering the country illegally.
Today, Sharice for Congress announced that Representative Sharice Davids has accepted an invitation to participate in a general election debate. Davids looks forward to discussing her efforts to lower costs, boost our economy, and defend Kansans’ rights, while holding Prasanth Reddy accountable for his extreme stance on abortion and his ties to Big Pharma.
“Rep. Davids is looking forward to the upcoming debate and laying out the clear contrast between her record of working across party lines to lower costs and protect Kansans’ rights, and Prasanth Reddy’s extreme positions, like banning abortion and raising prescription prices,” said Zac Donley, spokesperson for Sharice for Congress.
Davids’ campaign accepted the invitation for the Johnson County Post debate, co-hosted and broadcast by KCUR and Kansas City Public Television. This partnership ensures that Kansans can access the debate through television, radio, streaming, and print media.
“Davids has demonstrated a deep commitment to Kansas agriculture”
Yesterday, Nick Levendofsky, Executive Director of the Kansas Farmers Union, wrote a letter to the editor in the Kansas City Star, recognizing Representative Sharice Davids’ commitment to passing a bipartisan Farm Bill. Levendofsky acknowledged that Davids’ leadership has been instrumental in ensuring that Kansas farmers’ voices are heard in Washington, D.C. The current Farm Bill extension expires on September 30, 2024.
Earlier this year, Davids hosted U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small, former U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Mike Beam, and other policymakers to discuss the successes and challenges of Kansas’ farmers and producers. Throughout the day, the need to overcome partisan gridlock and pass a bipartisan Farm Bill reauthorization was consistently emphasized.
As a member of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, Davids has consistently engaged with farmers, ranchers, and producers throughout the Kansas Third, listening to their priorities and championing their interests in Washington, particularly during this year’s Farm Bill reauthorization process. To prepare for the reauthorization, Davids embarked on a Farm Bill listening tour, visiting each county in the Third District.
“Agriculture is the backbone of Kansas’ economy, contributing more than $82 billion annually and supporting 250,000 Kansas jobs.
Rep. Sharice Davids understands this and is working to secure a Farm Bill that strengthens our agricultural economy, protects farmers and ensures a stable and affordable food supply for generations to come.
She can’t do it alone, though. That’s why passing a strong, bipartisan Farm Bill is essential — not only for farmers and ranchers but for the entire Kansas economy.
Rep. Davids has demonstrated a deep commitment to Kansas agriculture and the importance of a Farm Bill that works for everyone. She held a listening tour and met with farmers and ranchers to better understand the issues affecting them.
This relationship-building and hands-on approach have not gone unnoticed. It’s one of the reasons Rep. Davids earned the endorsements of the National Farmers Union PAC and the Kansas Farm Bureau PAC.
She knows the best Farm Bill will be one that is realistic, can gain bipartisan support and invests in Kansas agricultural professionals while protecting vital nutrition programs that ensure families don’t go hungry.”
Ad Highlights Davids’ Work to Lower Costs by Stopping Price Gouging by Big Corporations
This weekend, Sharice for Congress launched its latest TV ad of 2024, “Mouthful,” showcasing Representative Sharice Davids’ efforts to lower costs by taking on corporate price gouging, especially by big grocery chains. While consumer prices have jumped 3.4 percent over the past year, corporate costs have only gone up 1 percent. Davids is holding these companies accountable, ensuring Kansans can afford to put food on the table and support their families.
“The Price Gouging Prevention Act. It’s a mouthful. It’s meant to put more food on your table and keep more money in your pocket,” said Davids. “Increased grocery prices, sometimes with less in the package, are hurting Kansas families. It’s called “greedflation,” and I’m working to stop it…Helping Kansans cope with high prices is my highest priority.”
Big corporations have recently exploited economic shifts to prey on consumers by price gouging — raising prices far beyond what’s needed to cover their costs, all while blaming inflation and supply chain disruptions. That’s why Davids is backing the Price Gouging Prevention Act, which would crack down on corporate greed, protect American families, and help lower everyday costs.
Davids, who was raised by a single mother and is still paying off student loan debt, has worked diligently to lower costs for hardworking Kansans. She helped pass a law that caps the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors and finally lets Medicare negotiate for lower prescription drug prices, saving 74,000 Kansans on Medicare up to 79 percent on certain medicines.
Further, Davids voted to fix our supply chains and pushed for lower grocery costs by reducing our country’s dependence on foreign oil. She also successfully urged the IRS to give small business owners a tax break on mileage expenses for their businesses and introduced bipartisan legislation to help Kansas families access quality and affordable child care.
Last week, the Kansas Farm Bureau (KFB), through their Voters Organized to Elect Farm Bureau Friends (VOTE FBF) political action committee, endorsed Representative Sharice Davids for the Kansas Third Congressional District, recognizing her as a candidate who “understands agriculture and advocates on its behalf.”
As a member of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, Davids has consistently engaged with farmers, ranchers, and producers throughout the Kansas Third, listening to their priorities and championing their interests in Washington, particularly during this year’s Farm Bill reauthorization process.
The KFB VOTE FBF endorsement of Davids made headlines across Kansas:
While the core of Davids’ district is centered on highly-populated suburban Johnson County, state Republican lawmakers redrew its boundaries in 2022 to include more rural areas southwest of the Kansas City metro area. In turn, Davids secured a position on the House Agriculture Committee.
Davids’ position on the committee has given Kansas additional influence as Congress develops the next farm bill – a package of agricultural and food assistance policy approved by Congress every few years. The most recent legislation, from 2018, will expire at the end of September after a previous extension.

Davids said in May she was committed to upholding the Kansas tradition of bipartisan agricultural policy.
‘To truly support Kansas’ agricultural economy, we must put Kansans first, stop playing political games, and promote a broadly bipartisan Farm Bill that can realistically make it across the finish line,’ Davids said in May. ‘There are many provisions in this bill we all agree on, which is why I remain optimistic.’

Davids has also cultivated a relationship with former Sen. Pat Roberts, a Kansas Republican long associated with the farm bill process who left the Senate in early 2021. In March she participated in a farm bill-focused event in Johnson County with Roberts, U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small and others.
She has also held a farm bill listening tour within the 3rd District, which extends from southern Wyandotte County south and west past Garnett.”
She joined the House Agriculture Committee in 2022 after the Kansas Legislature expanded the 3rd District’s boundary beyond Johnson and Wyandotte counties to include all of Anderson, Franklin and Miami counties. Those three counties have a larger agricultural economic footprint.
On Thursday, Farm Bureau president Joe Newland said Davids had dedicated herself to building relationships with agriculture interests in the congressional district. This is the first time the Farm Bureau PAC has endorsed her.

In the spring, Davids joined with former U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kansas, to host U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small for discussion of challenges facing Kansas’ crop and animal producers. Roberts and Davids said during the event that Congress should overcome partisan disputes to pass a bipartisan Farm Bill reauthorizing federal financial programs for U.S. agriculture.”

Ad Highlights Davids’ Work to Lower Costs for Kansans
Today, Sharice for Congress released its first TV ad of 2024, “Squeeze,” highlighting Representative Sharice Davids’ work to lower costs for Kansans by capping prescription drug costs, lowering grocery prices, and more.
“We’re all feeling the squeeze of higher prices,” said Davids. “It’s why I worked to cap drug costs, like insulin at thirty five bucks, to lower child care costs, a new law fighting price gouging on groceries, and more.”

She also successfully urged the IRS to give small business owners a tax break on mileage expenses for their businesses and introduced bipartisan legislation to help Kansas families access quality and affordable child care.
Rep. Sharice Davids, who is running unopposed, released the following statement after she was declared the winner of the Democratic primary election:
“I’m deeply grateful for the continued trust of the people of Kansas’ Third District and appreciate their support today. As we move forward, my focus remains on addressing the real issues that matter to hardworking folks — lowering costs, improving access to affordable health care, combating extremism, and protecting individual freedoms and reproductive rights.
The fact is, I’m the only candidate for the Third District who will listen to and work with anyone — Republican or Democrat — to move Kansas forward and ensure that our values are represented in Washington. I look forward to earning the support of the Kansas Third once again on November 5.” A livestream of Davids’ primary night speech can be found here.
ROELAND PARK, KS – Today, Representative Sharice Davids joined thousands of Kansans in casting her vote in Kansas’ 2024 primary election. Davids, who is running unopposed in this year’s primary election, encouraged all Kansans to make their voice heard today and in November.
“Voting is a powerful way to influence the direction of our country and ensure that our leaders reflect the values and priorities of our community. I hope all Kansas can make their voices heard today because it’s more important than ever that we elect leaders who will fight for our values and our future,” said Davids. “From the start, I’ve been the only candidate for the Third District who will fight to lower costs for Kansans, protect our personal freedoms, and work with anyone — Republican or Democrat — to get things done.”
Davids emphasized the importance of voting and her commitment to ensuring every Kansan can do so without barriers. She highlighted her efforts to lower costs, improve supply chains, boost domestic manufacturing, support farmers, and tackle rising prescription drug prices. Davids also spoke about her consistent record of defending reproductive rights — at a time when those rights are under threat — and stressed the importance of electing candidates who will work to combat extremism, not perpetuate it.
Polls are open until 7pm CT today. To check one’s registration status and find voting locations, Kansans can go to the Kansas Secretary of State’s website or iwillvote.com.
OVERLAND PARK, KS – On the second anniversary of Kansans’ resounding vote to reject an anti-abortion constitutional amendment, Representative Sharice Davids sat down with state legislators to discuss their efforts to fight back against extreme attempts to restrict reproductive freedoms. Even though Kansans made their voices clear, extreme actors in Kansas and across the country, including Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, have shown they will stop at nothing to restrict abortion rights. All Republicansrunning for Congress in Kansas’ Third District have said they support states’ ability to push these extreme policies.
“Two years ago, Kansans made it clear that they do not want politicians interfering with their most personal health care decisions,” said Davids. “Yet, we continue to see extreme anti-abortion policies being pushed by politicians both here in Kansas and across the nation, directly opposing the will of Kansans. Let me tell you — we won’t lose hope. By standing united, we will ensure a future where reproductive rights are protected for generations of Kansans.”
Following the Supreme Court reversing decades of precedent by overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022, Kansans voted decisively to protect reproductive rights by rejecting an anti-abortion constitutional amendment. This clear message demonstrated Kansans’ commitment to ensuring personal health decisions remain in the hands of individuals, not politicians. But more work is needed to fight back against the continued attacks.
Senator Dinah Sykes, U.S. Representative Sharice Davids, Representative Heather Meyer, Representative Mari-Lynn Poskin, Representative Jo Ella Hoye, and Senator Cindy Holscher
“Kansans spoke loud and clear two years ago: they do not want politicians interfering in their private medical decisions,” said Senate Democratic Leader Dinah Sykes. “Yet, extreme politicians in the Kansas Legislature continue to introduce bills that restrict reproductive freedom and ignore the will of Kansans. I’m doing everything I can to protect and preserve the reproductive rights of Kansans at the state level, and I’m grateful to have a leader like Rep. Davids fighting alongside me.”
“Kansans united to defend women two years ago today. Without Roe v. Wade to protect us, our right to choose is still at stake,” said Kansas Representative Jo Ella Hoye. “States with dangerous abortion bans have placed doctors in jeopardy while women’s lives hang in the balance. We must continue to protect the right to a safe, legal abortion at every level – from the Presidency, to Rep. Davids in Congress to members of the Kansas legislature – make sure that you’re represented by leaders who won’t back down on reproductive freedom.”
“Kansans came together to protect reproductive freedom on August 2nd 2022, and we will continue to fight to protect the right to make our own reproductive health decisions,” said Kansas Representative Heather Meyer. “These conversations should always remain between a patient, their family, and their healthcare provider, not left to the will of extremist judges and legislators, who are out of step with the people they represent. While it’s vital that we continue to value and respect the rights and freedoms of Kansans to make their own healthcare decisions, there are millions of people who live in states where safe and regulated reproductive healthcare has been banned. As Kansans we must join together and lead by example, so that we can restore reproductive rights throughout the country.”
“It was in my very first session, after being elected in 2020, that I witnessed every single Republican, in both chambers vote NO to exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother in the August 2nd amendment,” said Kansas Representative Mari-Lynn Poskin. “That’s when I knew that they did not, in fact, value women. Please send us help in the Kansas legislature and re-elect Representative Davids, so we can fight for bodily autonomy and reproductive rights on both the state and national levels.”
Representative Sharice Davids hosting a discussion with Kansas legislators on reproductive health care access.
During today’s discussion, Davids reiterated her support for the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would guarantee abortion access in all states across the country. The Kansas state legislators who attended today’s discussion included Kansas Senate Minority Leader Dinah Sykes, Kansas Senator Cindy Holscher, and Kansas Representatives Jo Ella Hoye, Heather Meyer, Mari-Lynn Poskin, and Lindsay Vaughn. The group encouraged all Kansans to remain active in their communities, stay informed about legislative developments, and support candidates who are committed to protecting reproductive rights. Earlier this year, Davids offered the official motion in the U.S. House to prevent a vote on a restrictive reproductive health care bill and voted twice to protect access to choice. She also introduced legislation to increase access to birth control and other reproductive health care services and joined 240 Members of Congress to file an amicus brief to keep mifepristone, a safe and effective medication used by millions of women, on the market.
